Auckland, New Zealand (SportsNetwork. Hockey Jerseys China .com) - Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams were among Wednesdays second-round winners at the ASB Classic. The top-seeded Wozniacki beat American Taylor Townsend 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), while Williams cruised past Japans Kurumi Nara 6-4, 6-1. Williams lost to Serbian Ana Ivanovic in last years Auckland finale. Another victory of a seeded American saw Coco Vandeweghe, seeded seventh, outlast Belgian Kirsten Flipkens 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5. Fourth-seeded Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic handed New Zealander Marina Erakovic a 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 defeat. Germanys Julia Goerges defeated Czech qualifier Lucie Hradecka 6-3, 7-5, while Polish qualifier Urszula Radwanska rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Russian Elena Vesnina whipped Croatian Ana Konjuh 6-3, 6-1. Authentic Hockey Jerseys . Rockies manager Walt Weiss was unhappy, too. "It was an almost perfect night," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said. The Calgary Stampeders have named Bo Levi Mitchell as their starting quarterback to start the 2014 season. Stampeders head coach John Hufnagel made the announcement to the assembled media Monday at McMahon Stadium. Mitchell was battling for playing time with Drew Tate for the starters job. The Stampeders open their 2014 campaign Saturday at home against the Montreal Alouettes. The 24-year-old appeared in 11 games with the Stamps in 2013, splitting the duties under centre with Tate and Kevin Glenn. Cyber Monday Hockey Jerseys. With Glenn now a member of the B.C. Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork. Fake College Basketball Jerseys .com) - Marian Hossa, Bryan Bickell and Brad Richards all posted a goal with an assist as the Chicago Blackhawks downed the reeling Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Sunday. Johnny Oduya also lit the lamp for Chicago, which has alternated wins and losses over the last seven games. Corey Crawfords shutout bid was spoiled by Matt Cooke with 4:52 remaining in regulation, but the All-Star goaltender was otherwise stellar in a 36-save performance. Niklas Backstrom surrendered all four goals on 35 shots for Minnesota, which has fallen into last place in the Central Division with five straight losses. Chicago was playing its fifth game in eight days but had plenty of burst early, scoring twice in the first 7:53. Hossa and Brandon Saad created a scoring chance despite being on a 2-on-3 break. Hossa stickhandled between the defenders and dumped it off to Saad, who bought time at the right circle and found a streaking Jonathan Toews trailing the play. Toews forced Backstrom out of the net with a nifty deke and fed Hossa in front at the 4:17 mark. Less than four minutes later, Bickell was left uncovered on the doorstep and tapped in a Patrick Kane pass for a 2-0 Chicago lead. Richards scored at the 11:08 mark of the second after a Kane shot deflected off a defensemans skate in front, and two minutes after Jason Zucker shot wide on his penalty shot, Oduya made it a 4-0 game. A Hossa outlet pass started a 2-on-1 break, and even though Toews pass was stopped by Jared Spurgeon, no one other Wild player hustled back on defense. Oduya swooped in, gathered the loose puck and wristed a shot that caromed off Spurgeon and bounced past Backstrom with 1:35 remaining in the period. Game Notes The Wild have gone 2-7-4 over their last 13 games ... Toews and Kane were each credited with two assists ... Chicago is 3-0 so far in the five-game season series. College Jerseys China . Span, Danny Espinosa and Adam LaRoche had two hits apiece as Washington won the final two games of the series. The Nationals improved to 3-7 against Atlanta. They increased their division lead over the Braves to 1 1/2 games. Cheap College Jerseys . While Minnesota takes aim at its eighth win of November, the Canadiens will try to post just their third victory in nine games this month. . After a 10-game skid, winning sure feels good. Atlantas third error in the last two innings allowed Jackie Bradley Jr.The pressure is on as a retooled Toronto FC kicks off its MLS season today in Seattle against the Sounders. Catch all the action live on TSN and TSN Radio 1050 at 4:30pm et/1:30pm pt.After seven years of on-field failure, new Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke dug deep into a well-stocked corporate pocket to bankroll manager Ryan Nelsen and GM Tim Bezbatchenkos global talent search. Many zeros later, Toronto FC is now home to England striker Jermain Defoe, U.S. international midfielder Michael Bradley, Brazilian international goalie Julio Cesar and forward Gilberto, and veteran Canadian star midfielder Dwayne De Rosario. Toronto stocked up on so many designated players, it had to trade incumbent DP Matias Laba to Vancouver to get down to the league limit of three. The shopping spree has prompted a return to the clubs early days, when season tickets were hard to come by. BMO Field should be full this season, although Leiweke has acknowledged the team will still lose money in 2014 because of the outlay on players. With demand exceeding supply, top football talent is not cheap and MLSE likely had to overpay to convince such elite players to choose MLS over more established leagues.Fullbacks Justin Morrow and Bradley Orr and Brazilian midfielder Jackson have also joined the party, meaning Toronto will likely have eight new faces in its starting lineup when everyone is healthy. And theres the early season rub. Torontos pre-season was hit by injury, particularly at fullback and forward. Defoe, meanwhile was a late arrival due to club and country commitments.Gilberto, troubled by an upper leg injury, was been left out of the travelling party for Seattle. Nelsen hopes to have him back for the home opener March 22 against D.C. United. The Brazilian actually returned to training this week but Nelsen doesnt want to rush him in case he aggravates the injury. The artificial turf at CenturyLink Field was likely a factor in that decision. The good news is Defoe and Bradley are both available for selection. Bradley has been nursing a foot injury while Defoe simply hasnt had much time training with his new team. But Nelsen says the 31-year-old English forward has adapted well. "He feels pretty good, to tell you the truth," Nelsen said. "So well see how he is."Defoe could well come off the bench. Nelsen, in his second year at the Toronto helm, is mindful that this is a marathon, not a sprint.Other clubs kept their stars in cotton wool in Week 1 of the season. New York rested French forward Thierry Henry rather than expose him to the artificial turf at B.C. Place Stadium while Seattle sent in U.S. international striker Clint Dempsey off the bench. As for Bradley, Nelsen said: "Hes come through this week pretty good. I think Michael will be a definite." Thats good news for Toronto, which went 6-17-11 last season. Bradley looks to be the straw that stirs the TFC drink. Most everything will run through the American, a box-to-box midfielder who manages to be both cerebral and driven. Other injured players like Morrow and Orr have also returned to training. Their concern is game fitness rather thann health. Cyber Monday College Jerseys. Nelsen is taking the long view."This game is not going to define us," he said. "Its going to take a bit of time to get everybody kind of on the same wavelength. Even Seattle, when they brought Clint (Dempsey) over -- just one piece -- were a bit of a different team last year. "Everybody has to kind of get used to each other and weve done it with several big pieces and several other pieces as well. This game is not going to define who we are. The next probably five or six, seven games are going to define who we are." Still, he hopes the progress is rapid, starting Saturday. With the playoffs a stated goal, Toronto cannot wait too long to start making its move up the standings, especially since Bradley, Cesar and possibly Defoe will be away for considerable time this summer on World Cup duty. When Toronto FC does not have possession, Nelsen expects his team to play the same kind of game it did last year -- with players pressing the opposition. The difference should be more noticeable when the team has the ball, given the influx of talent."Your options become a lot more with the quality thats on the field. Last year we had to be a bit more conservative because of the personnel we have," Nelsen said. "But when you have good players, you can start being a bit more expansive." While Toronto had a bye last weekend, a rain-soaked crowd of 39,240 saw Seattle win its season opener 1-0 over defending champion Sporting Kansas City with a stoppage-time goal by former Toronto forward Chad Barrett. Former Toronto keeper Stefan Frei was in goal. And on Thursday Seattle coach Sigi Schmid confirmed Frei as his No. 1 goalie ahead of veteran Marcus Hahnemann. The state of the Seattle turf at CenturyLink Field became an issue in the buildup to the Toronto game after Nelsen said of the surface: "Youve got not just an artificial field -- its a bad artificial field." Schmid took umbrage at the suggestions Seattles turf is bad, saying all the artificial surfaces are about the same in the league."Let me say this first, tell me which turf field is good in this league. There is no good turf field in this league," he told reporters. "I dont disagree, necessarily, with Ryans statement."Id love to have brand-new turf this year, as would everybody else. But I disagree with the point of making it seem like Seattles is worse than the others. I think the others are equally as good or as bad -- however you want to look at it." Scottish defender Steven Caldwell retains the Toronto armband as captain. Cesar starts in goal. To put Torontos woeful league history into perspective, a win Sunday would only be its 15th road victory since the teams debut in 2007. Seattle is one of seven MLS cities where Toronto has yet to win. NOTES: Torontos record in season openers is 1-6. All have been away from home to escape the weather. That record includes a 3-1 loss in Seattle to open the 2012 season. TFCs lone season-opening win was in 2009 when Toronto defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-2 ... MLSE boss Tim Leiweke is expected to take in the Seattle season opener. ' ' '

Iowa City, IA (SportsNetwork. Adidas Nmd Dámské .com) - Frank Kaminsky scored 24 points and Nigel Hayes added 14, leading fifth-ranked Wisconsin to a 74-63 victory over Iowa on Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Josh Gasser and Sam Dekker each chipped in 11 for the Badgers (19-2, 7-1 Big Ten), who have won four straight since a stunning loss at Rutgers on Jan. 11. Kaminsky, who missed the game against the Scarlet Knights because of a concussion, also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds on Saturday while making half of his field goal attempts and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Wisconsin has won 12 of its last 13, including a season sweep of Iowa. The Badgers rolled to an 82-50 rout of the Hawkeyes just 11 days ago in Madison and have won five straight in the series. Aaron White scored 15 to lead Iowa (13-8, 4-4), which has lost three in a row. White had played just seven minutes in last weeks loss to Purdue because of a stinger. Final Score: Pittsburgh 76, (8) Notre Dame 72 Pittsburgh, PA ( - James Robinson made a tough go-ahead runner in the lane with 12 seconds remaining as Pittsburgh took down No. 8 Notre Dame 76-72 in a wild finish on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Irish nearly pulled off an improbable comeback when Jerian Grant shook off a slow start and went on a personal 9-0 run inside the final three minutes. Grants two free throws with 31.2 seconds left gave Notre Dame a 72-71 lead, but Robinson drove right, gained some space with a spin move and scored over Pat Connaughton for what proved to be the deciding bucket. Grant passed up a shot at the other end with Steve Vasturia open in the corner, and Vasturias shot was off the mark. Jamel Artis grabbed the rebound, made two free throws, and Pitt stole the ensuing inbounds pass to end its three-game losing streak. Artis finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, and Robinson added 15 points with 10 assists for the Panthers (14-8, 4-5 ACC), who shot 68 percent from the field in the second half and 59 percent overall. Demetrius Jackson led Notre Dame with 15 points, Grant chipped in with 14, and Vasturia and Zach Auguste each netted 12 in a losing cause. Notre Dame (20-3, 8-2) had won five in a row -- four in comeback fashion -- and was fresh off a signature victory over No. 4 Duke. Final Score: (17) West Virginia 77, Texas Tech 58 Morgantown, WV ( - Devin Williams contributed 18 points with eight rebounds in 17th-ranked West Virginias 77-58 win over Texas Tech on Saturday. Daxter Miles Jr. chipped in with 12 points and Juwan Staten scored 11 with five assists for the Mountaineers (18-3, 6-2 Big 12), who have won three straight and four of their last five. Robert Turner supplied 18 points for the Red Raiders (11-11, 1-8), while Aaron Ross and Isaiah Manderson went for 13 and 10, respectively, off the bench in the loss. But amid Israels military campaign against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, ATP President Chris Kermode said "we do not feel we can proceed as planned given the situation in the region.BALTIMORE -- It gets even harder from here on out for California Chrome. He won easily in his home state of California, he dazzled in the Kentucky Derby and he dug deep to win the Preakness on Saturday. Now comes the toughest test of all, the Belmont Stakes in three weeks. The chestnut colt with four white feet will attempt to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont, something that hasnt been done since Affirmed in 1978. Since then, 12 horses have won the first two legs and failed to complete the sweep in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont; the last was Ill Have Another, who was scratched on the eve of the Belmont two years ago. "You have to have a very good horse to win these three races," said Art Sherman, the winning 77-year-old trainer. "Im hoping Ive got one right now." Maybe the horse with the modest pedigree and average Joe owners is the one. California Chrome defeated Ride On Curlin by 1 1/2 lengths in the Preakness, covering 1 3/16 miles in 1:54.84 on a sunny and cool day at Pimlico. Hes now won six straight races. The streak started with four in a row in California by a combined 24 1/4 lengths. Then California Chrome coasted home in the Derby by 1 3/4 lengths after opening up a big lead in the stretch. The margin dwindled in the Preakness as he fought off multiple challengers. California Chromes co-owner Steve Coburn shed tears after his colt crossed the finish line, dabbing them away with a blue-and-white bandanna. "I dont mean to be bold or cocky or arrogant," Coburn said. "I saw this baby when he was a day old, I told my wife, Carolyn, this horse is going to do something big. I dont know what it is, but were going to stay in the game to make sure this colt gets to be the best that he can be." Quite a statement from a guy with a one-horse stable. Coburn and partner Perry Martin bred an $8,000 mare to a $2,500 stallion to produce California Chrome. Based on the colts humble breeding, he probably shouldnt be on the verge of making history. His mother, named Love the Chase, won just one race. The owners were long shots to get this far, too. Coburn and Martin named their operation DAP Racing, which stands for Dumb Ass Partners. Their silks include an image of a donkey. Coburn and Perry who live on each side of the California-Nevada border get up early for their jobs -- Coburn working as a press operator and Martin running a lab that tests high-reliability equipment. "We just hope that this horse is letting America know that the little guy can win," Coburn said. Sent off as the overwheelming 1-2 favourite by a record crowd of 123,469, California Chrome bounced out of the gate running, with jockey Victor Espinoza moving the colt into the clear. Adidas Nmd Levne Cz. Pablo Del Monte, a 34-1 shot, charged to the lead and was soon joined by filly Ria Antonia. Espinoza tucked California Chrome into third, an ideal spot behind the leaders. They stayed there until making their move approaching the final turn. "I had to move early today," Espinoza said. "I had to start moving at the half-mile pole, which is tough for a horse to start moving early and keep going all the way to the end. California Chrome proved he can move." California Chrome went for the lead, catching Pablo Del Monte while Social Inclusion joined the chase. Pablo Del Monte soon dropped back along the rail, and California Chrome sprinted away from Social Inclusion at the top of the stretch. But there was one more challenge to come. Ride On Curlin, next-to-last in the 10-horse field, ranged up and briefly appeared ready to overtake California Chrome. Once again showing his class, California Chrome denied the threat. "Its an awesome feeling," Espinoza said. "Today it was just a crazy race. I got more tired mentally than physically. I see another horse go to the front. I was going to sit second. ... I sit back, as soon as the other horse got clear of me, it worked out perfect." Social Inclusion was ridden by Luis Contreras, a jockey based at Torontos Woodbine Racetrack. California Chrome paid $3, $3 and $2.40. Ride On Curlin returned $5.60 and $3.80, while Social Inclusion was another 6 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $3.40 as the 5-1 second choice. General a Rod was fourth, followed by Ring Weekend, Pablo Del Monte, Dynamic Impact, Kid Cruz, Bayern and Ria Antonia. Dynamic Impact is trained by Mark Casse, who is also based at Woodbine. Espinoza will get another crack at trying to complete the Triple Crown, after missing with War Emblem in 2002. He finished eighth in the Belmont that year. "You have to be a super horse to win," the jockey said. "Hopefully, California Chrome comes back good, and hes the one that hopefully can do it." Bob Baffert trained War Emblem, one of his three Triple tries that ended in failure. He missed with Silver Charm in 1997 and again the following year with Real Quiet, who lost the Belmont by a nose. "California Chrome is something. Hes a cool customer," Baffert said after the race. "He does everything right. Hes fast enough to stay out of trouble." ' ' '

The Green Bay Packers standout linebacker hasnt played since breaking his right thumb against Detroit on Oct. 6, but when he gets the pins removed from the thumb on Monday - a fact he confirmed Wednesday - he will be one step closer to returning to the field. He wont play against the Bears, but if he can return Nov. 10 against Philadelphia, he will have missed only four games. The Packers take a four-game winning streak into Monday nights game at Lambeau Field, with three of those victories coming with their star defensive player sidelined. "Ive been very impressed with our team. Its not just about me," Matthews said. "Theres a bunch of other guys on this team and theyve been doing a fantastic job, specifically speaking on defence, getting pressure on the quarterback. Its good to see." Despite playing without Matthews, the Packers are tied for 10th in the NFL with 23 sacks entering this weeks games. Matthews, who has 45.5 career regular-season sacks in four-plus seasons, had three sacks at the time of his injury, which occurred as he was sacking Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Not only have the Packers played without Matthews, but fellow starting outside linebacker Nick Perry has missed the last two games with a foot injury, and starting inside linebacker Brad Jones has been out since suffering a hamstring injury the same day Matthews broke his thumb. "I look forward to the time when we get all of our troops together at the same time," defensive co-ordinator Dom Capers said. "I think what were going through now is these guys are gaining experience. Well be able to use that experience over the second half of the season." As well as the Packers defeence has played without Matthews - in the three games hes missed, the unit has registered 11 sacks and 61 total points - Matthews said hes not going to be extra careful with the injury and wait any longer than the doctors make him wait. David Robinson Spurs Jersey. "Im not a patient guy, as you guys are well aware," Matthews said. "Ill never learn to be patient. Its difficult because with most rehab injuries you feel as if youre getting better and working toward something, but with this its obviously a different case. I kind of have to wait for doctors opinions and specific procedures in order to take the field. Thats what is the most frustrating." Matthews said he had hoped to play through the injury wearing a club cast to protect the hand. But because of the type of injury he sustained, he had no choice but to have surgery. Matthews suffered a Bennett fracture, in which the first metacarpal bone at the base of the thumb breaks away from the joint, leaving behind a fragment that remains attached to one of the ligaments in the thumb joint. If not surgically repaired, the injury can lead to permanent problems, such as reduced grip strength in the hand. "I was all for it (playing), but there was no way around it with (what) these doctors were telling me the possible risks were as well as future life after football as far as my hand and what could happen," Matthews said. "I definitely would like to push through it. I feel like I could and Id be able to. Pain is not an issue for me. Its more so about being smart - and at times Im not the smartest." Matthews said he didnt really feel much pain when it happened and wasnt even sure how the injury occurred. "When you break a bone in your hand, especially with the adrenaline running, you dont really feel it until afterward when the pain kicks in," Matthews said. ' ' '
